Our second and last day of our Training in Athens, Greece for our ErasmusPlus Project TourBIZ4VET was concluded with great success !
We started with a very interesting presentation by our partner Low Carbon Economy (www.lowcarboneconomy.org) and fruitful following discussion on the role of digital tools in sustainability, climate change and the role of consumerism and individual effort to mitigating it’s effects !
A point of our discussion was that, it is often overlooked the amount of energy that is required in order to run the digital infastructure, even if that aims to promote sustainability.
This could be seen in the vast amount of energy required to run public and state’s data centres but also out off-the-grid sources, such as cryptocurrency mining facilities and AI data centres as few of the examples.
Following, we conducted an interective workshop that showcases the cause and effectelationships between human activity, climate_change and the socioeconomic aftermath of the two.
In the workshop we divided the segments into three: cause, effect and result. The order of phenomenona though is not always as thought !
